Shanice Skinner is a Canadian lyric soprano from Nova Scotia, Canada. She graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University with an Honours Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance in 2017 and an Opera Diploma in 2020, having studied with Lynda Mieske and Leslie Fagan, respectively. In summer 2022, Shanice created the role of Mary Thompson in the acclaimed Canadian music drama The Bells of Baddeck (Lorna MacDonald and Dean Burry), a production in partnership with The University of Toronto and Parks Canada. In August 2021, Shanice placed second in the Emerging Artists stream for voice at the 2021 National Music Festival of Canada. Shanice has recently completed a Master of Music in Classical Voice at the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague in the Netherlands, studying with Catrin Wyn-Davies. This September, Shanice performed in concert as Fiordiligi in scenes from Così fan tutte (W.A. Mozart) at the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague conducted by Jac van Steen and Benjamin Perry Wenzelberg. Other recent concert collaborations include various operatic scenes and arias with Wim Steinmann and Domestica Rotterdam, and Peter Janka and No Quartet at the 2022 Huygens Festival in Voorburg. In 2023, Shanice will join Consensus Vocalis in Floris Visser’s production of Die Zauberflöte (W.A. Mozart) with Nederlandse Reisopera.
